Q&A with Tampa’s Top Bartenders
1. What does exceptional hospitality mean to you, and how do you embody it behind the bar?
” Exceptional hospitality, to me, means creating a space where guests feel comfortable, appreciated, and valued. Behind the bar, I strive to engage in friendly conversation while also remaining professional … Also, noticing who comes in more than once and remembering their preferences is important to keep guests coming back. “
2. What’s one small detail that you believe makes a big difference in providing exceptional hospitality?
” Anticipating a guests’ needs before they do. It could be as simple as making sure they have a straw with their drink, a bar napkin, an extra side of sauce, or whatever they might need before they have to ask for it. “
3. What is your biggest customer pet peeve?
“ My biggest pet peeve is when it’s super busy and loud and someone orders a drink, but by the time I’m done making it, they suddenly disappear or turn their back. I end up wasting five minutes trying to get their attention or looking all over the restaurant for them. “
